Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about roof insurance claims, our process, and what to expect when you work with Peak One.
General
Do you handle insurance claims?
Yes — it's one of our specialties. We handle the entire process from first inspection through adjuster coordination to final installation, so you don't have to learn the claims process on the fly.
How long does the inspection take?
Typically 30–45 minutes. Our team will photograph and document everything — shingles, flashing, vents, gutters, and the deck where visible — so you have a complete record whether you file a claim or not.
What roofing brands do you use?
We're a GAF-certified installer and use GAF Timberline HDZ shingles, ridge vents, and ice & water shield as our standard system. GAF is North America's largest roofing manufacturer and backs our installs with a full system warranty.
Are you licensed and insured in Ohio?
Yes. Peak One Restorations is a fully licensed Ohio roofing contractor and carries general liability and workers' compensation insurance. We'll provide certificates on request.
What areas do you serve?
Logan, Union, Shelby, and Wyandot counties — including Bellefontaine, Sidney, Upper Sandusky, Marysville, Russells Point, Lakeview, West Liberty, and Zanesfield, plus surrounding towns.
Cost
How much does a roof replacement cost in Logan County, OH?
Most full residential roof replacements in Logan County run $9,000–$22,000 depending on size, pitch, decking condition, and shingle line. We give every customer a written, line-item estimate — no high-pressure pricing games.
What affects the price of a new roof?
Roof square footage, pitch and number of stories, decking replacement, ventilation upgrades, the shingle product (3-tab vs. architectural vs. designer), tear-off layers, ice & water coverage, and any chimney, skylight, or flashing rebuilds.
Do you offer financing?
We can connect homeowners with third-party roofing finance partners that offer monthly payment plans for retail (non-insurance) jobs. Ask during your estimate and we'll walk through the options.
Timeline
How long does a roof replacement take?
Most residential roof replacements are completed in 1–2 days. Larger or steep-pitch roofs and commercial systems take longer; we give you a written schedule before we start.
How long does a storm-damage insurance claim take?
From first inspection to install, most approved storm-damage claims wrap in 4–8 weeks. Timing depends on your carrier's adjuster availability, scope negotiation, and material lead times.
Insurance
What counts as a covered storm loss in Ohio?
Wind damage, hail bruising, fallen trees, and sudden water intrusion from a storm event are typically covered. Wear-and-tear, age, and improper prior installation usually are not. We'll tell you straight after an inspection.
Do I have to use my insurance company's preferred contractor?
No. In Ohio you have the right to choose your own roofing contractor. The carrier pays the approved scope; you pick who installs it.
What if my storm-damage claim is denied?
We help you appeal. We've seen every denial pattern — call delay, scope gaps, partial-roof rulings — and we re-document the loss properly so the carrier can reconsider.
How do I know if my roof has storm damage?
Look for missing or lifted shingles, granule loss in gutters, dented gutters or vents, dings on metal flashing, and ceiling stains inside. When in doubt, call us — inspections are free.
How soon should I file a claim after a storm?
Sooner is better. Most policies require prompt notice. Even if you're not sure damage exists, get an inspection within a few weeks of a major storm so the loss is on the record.
Storm chasers
How do I vet a roofer after a storm?
Confirm Ohio licensing, ask for proof of liability and workers' comp, look for manufacturer certifications (GAF Master Elite, etc.), check Google reviews from real local customers, and never sign a contingency form before you understand it.
What are red flags from a door-knocking roofer?
Out-of-state plates, pressure to sign 'contingency' paperwork on the spot, promises of a 'free roof,' offers to waive your deductible, and refusal to provide a written estimate. All are common storm-chaser tactics.
Why are 'free roof' pitches a scam?
It's illegal in Ohio for a contractor to pay or rebate your insurance deductible. Anyone promising a 'free roof' is either committing insurance fraud or planning to cut corners. Real roofs aren't free.
Warranty
What's the difference between GAF System Plus and Golden Pledge?
System Plus extends shingle coverage to 50 years and adds workmanship coverage; Golden Pledge is GAF's strongest warranty — 25 years of workmanship coverage backed by GAF, plus full system protection. Only certified installers (like us) can offer them.
What voids a roofing warranty?
Improper ventilation, mixing manufacturers' components, unapproved repairs, and roofing over old shingles in some cases. We install full GAF systems by the book so coverage stays intact.
Is the warranty transferable if I sell my house?
GAF system warranties (System Plus, Golden Pledge) are typically transferable once within the first several years of ownership — a real value-add at resale. We hand you the paperwork at install.
